Located within a mixed-use industrial building along one of Malta’s busiest roads, Amplecare Clinic transforms a previously unfinished floor into a calm and restorative environment dedicated to beauty and wellness. Conceived as a deliberate contrast to its surroundings, the project creates a clear separation between the activity of the industrial surroundings and the experience of treatment and care.
The journey through the building forms an integral part of the design. Visitors arrive through a utilitarian environment shared with commercial tenants before being guided towards the clinic by a discreet Amplecare logo. Beyond the entrance, the atmosphere shifts dramatically. Organised around a central void, a series of softly curved spaces unfolds, creating an environment that feels intimate, sheltered and distinct from the world outside.
Natural light is carefully drawn deep into the interior, where it washes across textured plaster surfaces and natural materials. The curved walls, finished with a semi-rough earthen texture, establish a tactile quality that reinforces the clinic’s focus on wellbeing and care. Inspired by organic forms, the architecture replaces sharp boundaries with flowing geometries that create a sense of softness and calm throughout the space.
Within the treatment rooms, the material palette continues through a series of bespoke design elements. Suspended GFRC basins, inspired by the traditional Maltese mejjilla, reinterpret a familiar domestic object in a contemporary manner. Serving both functional and hygienic requirements, these elements become a defining feature of the project, connecting local cultural references with the clinic’s modern identity.
The result is a carefully crafted environment that combines natural light, texture and organic form to create a spatial experience centred on comfort, wellbeing and discretion.
